A true icon of the Douro

Quinta do Côtto is the terroir of excellence of the Montez Champalimaud house. Located in the oldest and most traditional wine production sector of the Douro, in Cidadelhe, about 10 km from Mesão Frio, it is one of the most emblematic properties in the entire region. Its 70 hectares of vineyards are listed in the oldest official documents of the region as being part of the group of the first to be planted in the Douro valley.

One of the ex-libris of Quinta do Côtto is a large and elegant manor house built at the beginning of the 18th century, superimposed on a 15th/16th century construction of which vestiges can still be found. To this architectural wealth can be added the testimony of the first passage of the Montez family through the place, even before the foundation of the Monarchy in 1140.
